Pilgrims flock to Old Goa to give thanks

In a poignant scene, a young woman in her early forties spent more than an hour kneeling down in the pandal outside the Basilica of Bom Jesus, in thanksgiving for the gift of a child after seven years of marriage.

The woman hugging her 10-month-old child to her bosom did not rise at all during the Pontifical Mass on the occasion of the feast of St. Francis Xavier on Wednesday.
